Time to Frontline (TTF) is a supply chain KPI that measures the number of calendar days between identifying a workflow problem or improvement opportunity and having the mobile tool that fixes it in active use by frontline workers. It measures organizational agility rather than operational output.

Pick five recent workflow changes your team has shipped. For each one, find the date the underlying problem was first identified and the date the tool went into active production use, then average the calendar days. Retail supply chains operate in a constantly shifting environment — consumer behavior, fulfillment expectations, and supplier reliability change regularly. TTF measures how quickly an organization can adapt to these changes, which determines whether every other supply chain metric (inventory turns, throughput, cost per unit) improves or decays over time.

A Time to Frontline of nine months or longer typically means most workflow improvement ideas never make it past the planning stage. A TTF of weeks or months is typical. But a Time to Frontline of under two weeks indicates a structural advantage that compounds over time.
